My Story

Who is Mike?

I discovered trail running in 2013 and instantly found a passion for exploring the local trails in my corner of eastern Iowa. Soon after,
I began researching and dreaming of discovering other trails across the country and abroad, anxious to explore and enjoy the vast beauty of our natural world.

During the same time period, I learned travel hacking strategies that provided the opportunity to see and experience these beautiful locations without breaking my budget. I quickly realized that the world was smaller and more accessible than I ever imagined.

I’ve created Trailhead Travel to serve as a resources for all trail and outdoor enthusiasts looking to connect and immerse themselves in the beauty of our planet, a place that is more connected than we ever realized, a world with countless adventures waiting to be discovered.
